Version 1.2 · Effective June 16, 2026. By creating an account, accepting a family invitation, or otherwise using SayStory, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. This version matches the Terms you accept inside the app.
SayStory is intended solely for adults. You must be at least 18 to use the service in any way — this applies to the account creator and to anyone invited into a family space. Children do not create accounts and may not use the service directly. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
Your memories belong to you. You grant SayStory a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely to operate the service for you. We do not sell your content. You represent and warrant that you have the legal right to record, upload, and share your content — including any content involving other people or children — and that you have any necessary parental or guardian consent. You are solely responsible for your content and how you choose to share it, and you agree not to upload anything illegal or that infringes anyone's rights.
SayStory uses AI to transcribe audio and polish stories and illustrations. AI output is informational only, may be inaccurate or unexpected, and AI images are illustrations, not photographs. You are responsible for reviewing AI output before relying on or sharing it. You can edit or delete it at any time.
SayStory may offer a free trial and a paid subscription, billed and managed through the App Store or Google Play; cancel any time in your device's subscription settings. Optional printed books are a separate paid purchase. Refunds follow the relevant store's policies.
We cannot guarantee the service will always be available; it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. SayStory depends on third-party providers (including OpenAI, Amazon Web Services, Telegram, and app-store and payment partners). We are not responsible for failures, outages, acts, or security incidents caused by these providers or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
We use reasonable, industry-standard protections (encryption in transit, token-based authentication, access controls). However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot and do not guarantee the service will be free from unauthorized access, loss, or breach. You use the service with this understanding. We respond promptly to incidents and notify affected users where required by law.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that data will be preserved without loss. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of content that is important to you. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SayStory and its owner, operators, and service providers WILL NOT be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, or for loss arising from unauthorized access to or alteration of your content, even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for any and all claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some may not apply to you, and nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SayStory and its owner, operators, and service providers from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your content; (b) your use of the service; (c) your violation of these Terms or any law; (d) your violation of the rights of any other person or child, including recording or sharing content without necessary consent; or (e) content you share with others.
Please contact us first at support@saystory.app. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally within 60 days, disputes will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, and you and SayStory waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action, to the extent permitted by law. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of accepting these Terms. This arbitration clause does not apply to users in the European Union. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where your local consumer-protection laws provide stronger protection. If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
SayStory is an adults-only service for caregivers to record memories about children. Children do not create accounts and may not use the service directly. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a minor has gained access, contact support@saystory.app and we will take appropriate action, including deletion.
You can delete your account and data from Settings at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, harm other users, or engage in fraud. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app and ask you to accept the updated Terms before continuing.
